Riza thrilled with Cardiff duo Daland and El Ghazi

Jesper Daland and Anwar El Ghazi were both thrust into the deep end as they were handed their Cardiff City debuts in the 1-1 draw with Swansea City.

Defender Daland played from the outset against the Swans just five days after joining the Bluebirds from Cercle Brugge.

Meanwhile, El Ghazi was introduced as a substitute in the second half as Erol Bulut's men came from behind to claim a point courtesy of Callum Robinson's equaliser after Liam Cullen had put the hosts ahead on 10 minutes.

And the Bluebirds' assistant coach Omer Riza was happy with how the two debutants performed against Luke Williams' outfit.

"He's a really level-headed guy," Riza said of Daland.

"He's come in, got straight on with what we've asked him to do and he takes on board the information.

"He's experienced, he's played a lot of games already at his age.

"It was a really tough game but I think he managed it quite well. He's prepared to take responsibility on the pitch, and I think we can all say it was a good debut for him."

Discussing El Ghazi, Riza commented: "He hasn't played for a long period of time so we do have to be careful with how much we're exposing him.

"We felt today could be a nice day for him to come on. It was a difficult game for him to come on, but I think he's done well. He's an experienced guy, we already know his qualities, he's played at a top level.

"We need more now. It'll come slowly. I think in the next couple of weeks he'll start to get more opportunities and get stronger.

"He's probably not quite ready yet but he's got a lot to give."
