Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has said the international break has given him time to regain focus following speculation about his future.

Edwards admitted the situation was out of his hands following a 5-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on 9 November.

An eighth loss in 15 games this season defeat left Luton 21st in the Championship, having been relegated from the Premier League in May.

Edwards has had meetings with chief executive Gary Sweet and others at the club and he told BBC Three Counties Radio: "When people are asking about your job, there are certain elements that are out of my control.

"Time passes, we were able to talk about a few things, it's settled and I'm able to get real focus again and get back to work.

"It's been tough for quite a long time now. There are a lot of challenges on and off the pitch and I'm working on that.

"Gary and I had a lot of discussions, really positive and healthy - he's been extremely supportive, as has the board."

Edwards said his comments in the wake of the Middlesbrough game had been honest and emotional.

He said at the time: "If it is (the end), then I've loved my time here. It's been two incredible years where we've had incredible highs and reached heights that we probably never thought we would, or were capable of."

Luton are at home to Hull City on Saturday, to be followed by trips to Leeds United and Norwich City.

"We're not looking any further than Hull at the moment but we're aware of what comes next. We'll take each one (as they happen), that's all we can do, not look too far ahead," Edwards said.

Wing-back Alfie Doughty will be missing against Hull - the latest in a series of injury setbacks which have affected Luton this season.

Edwards added: "We know there's inconsistency in what we're delivering, particularly between home and away form. We have to get that right, whether that's just in games or from game to game.

"The last couple of weeks in training have been good. We had a real disappointment last time out and what we need to do now is show some character, some bravery and deliver a performance. If we do that at home, we know we're a match for anyone.

"We're a work in progress, there's been a lot of change but we have seen some good signs, particularly at home."
