Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard and Sky Blues performance analyst Connor Lawley have both been charged with misconduct following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Burnley.

Former Chelsea and England legend Lampard was sent off by match referee James Bell after the final whistle.

Lampard "allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards a match official around the field of play after the final whistle which led to his dismissal".

Lawley "allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour around the tunnel area after the match had finished".

Both men have until Monday, 14 April to "provide their responses".

Lampard was twice on FA charges in his first season as a manager, with Derby County in 2018-19, and also during his time as Everton boss.

Having taken over in early December, Lampard has elevated the Sky Blues to the top six in the Championship - and is hoping to take them to the play-offs, as he did with Derby six years ago.

With five games left, City are in sixth, two points clear of seventh-placed Middlesbrough going into Monday's trip to Hull City.
