Wycombe boss Michael Duff hailed Fred Onyedinma as one of the best players in League One following his two-goal performance against Leyton Orient.

The Chairboys won 4-1 and, although just 14th in the table, are now unbeaten in five league games under Duff.

Duff said he was baffled by concerns expressed about Onyedinma's stamina when the head coach arrived at Adams Park in September.

"Everyone knows what Fred is, or can be," Duff told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"I heard a lot of 'he can only do 60 minutes, he can't play Saturday-Tuesday' - I think it's nonsense, he's 28 years old and at the peak of his career.

"He can do 90 minutes, he's proved it and I think, on his day, he's as good as anything in this league."

Onyedinma first played for Wycombe in 2014-15 when he joined the club on loan from Millwall.

A second loan spell followed during the 2018-19 campaign before he joined them on a permanent basis.

He moved on to Luton Town and made eight Premier League appearances for the Hatters in 2024 before returning to Adams Park that summer.

"He's got to be a big player for us, the age he's at, the profile he's got, I don't want him to do it in flashes," said Duff.

The former Huddersfield, Swansea and Barnsley boss described Saturday's result as a "statement win" over a side that reached the play-off final last season.

"We've worked really hard for six, seven, eight weeks and not got a lot of return in terms of where we are in the league," he added.

"I've warned them 'teams are going to be ready for you now'. Now, wherever we go, and we're at Port Vale next week, they'll be ready for us and that's the next challenge, can we turn it on week in and week out?

"I think we've scored in every game since I've been here, loads of different scorers, we don't have a Haaland scoring 80% of the goals, which is sometimes not a bad thing, because if that person goes down you're looking at where the goals are coming from."
