Thelwell son to take up Rangers recruitment job

Kevin Thelwell left a similar post at Everton to become sporting director at Rangers

Robbie Thelwell is to take on the head of recruitment role at Rangers, working under his father Kevin at Ibrox.
The 26-year-old will arrive from Norwich City, where he has been head of technical scouting and loan management since July 2024.
He has also had scouting spells with Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where his dad was sporting director.
Thelwell senior took on the same post at Rangers this summer after leaving Everton.
He oversaw the appointment of head coach Russell Martin and the arrival of 13 new players but Rangers have endured a disappointing start to the season, winning just five of their 15 matches in all competitions.
Rangers also plan to appoint a new head scout and data insights lead.
Martin was asked about Thelwell's appointment in his media conference to preview Thursday's Europa League match away to Sturm Graz.
"My thoughts are, as we have the squad, the club needs change," he said.
"It needs to move forward, it needs to be done in a certain way. Not everyone will like certain things and how they are, but the club has to have something and some way to move forward.
"That's about getting really good people in who have done a really good job elsewhere. I really trust that Kevin, [technical director] Dan [Purdy], Patrick [Stewart], the owners, wouldn't let anyone in the building unless they thought they were really, really good.
"I think the person most aware of that and having lots of chats with him would be Kevin. So I don't think he'd ever put himself in that position if he and Dan didn't believe that his son was very good.
"I worked at Norwich for a very long time, there are a lot of people still there who think he's very, very good.
"And if he's got the same values and clarity as his old man, he'll be in good hands."
