Burton Albion assistant head coach Pat Lyons has signed a contract extension with the League One club.

The 46-year-old joined Gary Bowyer's coaching team in December on a deal that ran until the end the season.

Under Bowyer, with Lyons working as his number two, the Brewers managed to avoid relegation with what was described as a "miracle" turnaround after being 11 points from safety and rock bottom of League One in early January.

Bowyer signed a new two-year deal after that, while former Burton player Lyons has now agreed a undisclosed-length contract.

"We're thrilled to have Pat continue his work alongside Gary and the rest of the staff," Burton's sporting director Richard Dorman told the club website., external
