Chelsea add 33 youth players to Champions League squad

Chelsea have registered 33 academy players - including legendary defender Thiago Silva's son Isago - for the upcoming match at home to Ajax.

The host of players aged between 16 and 19 have been added to an unlimited B list, which is fully within Uefa's rules.

Sources at Stamford Bridge say the abnormal move has been made for administrative reasons.

It will allow Chelsea to call upon youngsters for the Champions League league phase as and when they choose instead of needing to make the changes before each match.

The B list players from the academy are as follows:

Goalkeepers: Ted Curd, Max Merrick, Jack Austin, Hudson Sands, Toby Bell.

Defenders: Genesis Antwi, Richard Olise, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Kobe Barbour, Harry McGlinchey, Kaiden Wilson, Olutayo Subuloye, Joseph Wheeler-Henry, Calvin Diakite, Isago Silva, Lewi Richards, Dante Waite.

Midfielders: Samuel Rak-Sakyi, Jimi Tauriainen, Reggie Walsh, Harrison McMahon, Leo Cardoso, Landon Emenalo, Sol Gordon, Ollie Harrison, Yahua Idrissi, Frankie Runham, Shaun Wade, Charles Holland, Ibrahim Rabbaj.

Forwards: Ato Ampah, Shim Mheuka, Chizaram Ezenwata, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Joel Vidal Philbert.
