Birmingham City have signed Liverpool and Wales winger Lewis Koumas on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at fellow Championship side Stoke, scoring six goals in 49 games.

Koumas, who is the son of former Wales international Jason Koumas, has come through the Reds' academy and made one first-team appearance, in the FA Cup in 2024, where he also scored in a 3-0 win against Southampton.

He has won six Wales caps so far, last playing for his country in the World Cup qualifier win against Liechtenstein in June.

Koumas said he had "lots of interest" but could not turn down the "project" at Birmingham.

"Just how big of a club this is, how passionate the fans are, the project that I've heard about and after speaking to the gaffer, there was no other way about it - I was coming to Birmingham," he told the club website., external

"I want to be wanted by a manager and I know he knows a lot about me. It's always about developing and wanting to get better but I'm also here to come and prove what I can do, score goals and get assists."
