King's Lynn Town head coach James Rowe has resigned with immediate effect just nine games into the new National League North season.

The club have so far given no reason for the decision but Joe Simpson has been put in temporary charge.

Former Chesterfield and AFC Fylde boss Rowe was appointed in May following a takeover of the club by Singapore-based Turn Sports Investments.

He has guided the Linnets to ninth place in the table following Saturday's 1-1 draw at Marine.

King's Lynn are next in action away to Royston Town on Saturday in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.
