Burnley sign midfielder Luis on loan from Benfica

New Burnley midfielder Florentino Luis says it is a "special day" after completing a loan move from Benfica.

The 26-year-old will join initially on loan for a £1.73m fee, but there is an option to buy for a reported £20.8m next summer, which would make him the club's record signing.

Luis made 181 appearances for the Portuguese giants across six seasons and has been a regular feature for them in recent Champions League campaigns.

"Playing in the Premier League has always been a dream of mine, so this is a special day for me and my family," he told club media.

"It's the biggest and best league in the world and to be joining Burnley at this time is really exciting for me.

"I am really looking forward to playing for this historic club and giving my all for the Burnley supporters."

Luis will wear the number 16 shirt and becomes Burnley's 10th signing of the summer.
