Birmingham City have signed German international forward Marvin Ducksch from Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
The 31-year-old becomes Blues' ninth signing so far this summer and moves in time to make his debut for the club against Ipswich Town in their Championship opener tomorrow night.
A product of the Borussia Dortmund academy, Ducksch was handed his first-team debut by Jurgen Klopp and has had spells at St Pauli, Holstein Kiel, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hannover before moving in 2021 to Werder Bremen, where he won promotion to the top flight in his debut season.
After scoring for Bremen in consecutive matches against Union Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg, Ducksch gained the attention of head coach Julian Nagelsmann and was selected for Germany in friendly matches against Turkey and Austria in November 2023.
He scored a total of 32 goals in his three Bundesliga campaigns with Werder Bremen and has amassed 156 career goals to date, most of which have come in the lower divisions in Germany.
Duscksch joins the likes of Tommy Doyle, Demarai Gray and Kyogo Furuhashi as part of Chris Davies' new-look squad at St Andrew's this summer.
"I am very happy that I am here now. I can't wait to be with the team and be on the pitch," Ducksch told Birmingham's club website., external
"It's a big club. It's a new challenge for me. The idea and the plan that the club have was the same idea that I have."
