'Never really in doubt' Guehi would stay at Palace - Glasner

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed England defender Marc Guehi will not be leaving the club on deadline day.

Newcastle had four bids for the 24-year-old turned down, the most recent worth up to £65m.

Guehi has two years left on his contract and Glasner was reluctant to lose another defender after Joachim Andersen was sold to Fulham for about £30m.

"It was never really in doubt," said Glasner. "Congratulations to Crystal Palace, to the chairman, to the owners, that they didn't give in.

"Especially after the transfer of Joachim Andersen, it was very important that Marc stays.

"Also thank you to Marc. We were always close and talking a lot. All of the rumours didn't influence his performance, his mood, his professionalism.

"He always told me he is not pushing to leave Crystal Palace and for me that is the most important thing."
