Torquay United boss Paul Wotton praised an excellent first-half display after the Gulls beat Chippenham Town 3-0 in National League South.

Jordan Young's 20th-minute free-kick gave Torquay the lead against his former club before Sonny Blu Lo-Everton doubled the tally from the edge of the box shortly before the interval.

Louis Dennis rounded off the win 12 minutes into the second half with a close-range finish after good work by Callum Dolan.

The win maintains the Gulls' excellent home form and moved them back up to third place after defeat at Chesham United at the weekend.

"I thought it was a good response from Saturday," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

"I thought first half we were excellent, really front-footed, really positive in our play. Our press was excellent, two really well-taken goals and I think we should have scored more.

"We scored our third and then I think I made the subs too early.

"I think it disrupted our flow a little bit and Chippenham had a lot of the ball and we couldn't quite get to grips with what they were doing second half.

"But ultimately we've won 3-0 at home - that's six wins and a draw at home.

"Overall I'm really pleased, the boys worked hard and it's another clean sheet."
