Blackpool have offered midfielder Josh Onomah fresh terms to stay with the club as he reaches the end of his short-term deal.
The 27-year-old joined in October on an initial agreement until January following a successful trial with the club.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Preston North End man, who played under Seasiders boss Steve Bruce during loan spells with Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, has made nine appearances.
"We are in discussions with Josh. I think he's closer to staying," Bruce told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"The ball's in his court really. We've put some sort of proposal towards him and it's whether he accepts it or not."
Elsewhere, Bruce said his side will be near to full strength for Saturday's League One fixture against Cambridge United with long-term absentee Andy Lyons close to a first-team return.
