Glasgow City and Motherwell's Women's Scottish Cup semi-final is a family affair with the Crichton siblings in opposing dugouts.

City assistant coach Leanne will be up against older brother Colin in the Motherwell technical area as Paul Brownlie's assistant, which begs one question that Colin poses: "Who are Mum and Dad supporting?"

Leanne admits "it's a big issue, it's a big problem" and Colin adds: "They've been supporting City in the league games. That's 100% been happening. This is 50-50."

Whether that issue is settled or not, the love and admiration the pair share is undeniable. Indeed, it was Leanne who approached former semi-professional player Colin about joining the coaching team at Motherwell when she was player-coach with the Women of Steel.

Leanne then returned to Glasgow City, where she enjoyed huge success as a player, to assist Leanne Ross.

Colin describes himself as "inspired" by his Scotland international sister's career and the pair were involved in Motherwell's last Hampden trip - a 2-0 semi-final loss to Rangers in 2023.

"For me to be back at Hampden in a coaching capacity is incredible," Colin continued on this week's Behind the Goals podcast.

"The first time the two of us were there, we were in same dugout and Leanne obviously played in the game, which in itself was incredible and an incredible experience, albeit a disappointing result.

"I hope that this Saturday that the stars align for us. I'm obviously trying to park the whole family connection because Leanne will focus on City this week and me and PB will definitely focus on us.

"Obviously, with Leanne being in the different dugout it's quite a unique dynamic. I played the game but the only way I was getting to Hampden was janitor or caretaker."

Colin has "loved every minute" of working with Brownlie and Leanne considers her brother "a brilliant coach".

"The dynamic's been fun," she says. "We've had a few moments. We had a funny moment when PB got sent off. Colin's now standing out on the touchline. Leanne Ross says, 'do you want to go out and stand and you can get a family photo?'

"This probably is the best case scenario. We both want to be in a cup final. You want to be playing in the big game. You want to win silverware. It's in our DNA at Glasgow City as well that that is the expectation - that you win silverware."

The dynamic as clearly driven each to succeed as Colin explains: "Me and her have been really competitive obviously for 37 years... Since the two of us could ever play darts or snooker or football - anything that we could do up against each other."

And Leanne adds: "May the best Crichton win, I'll see you at Hampden. We'll see how it goes."
