Manager Paul Wotton described Torquay United's win over AFC Totton as one of the best results of his reign.

The Gulls maintained their unbeaten start to their National League South campaign with a 3-1 win over the Hampshire side.

Torquay went ahead through Dylan Morgan's fine 15th-minute, long-distance strike.

They were pegged back by Totton just after the half-hour but responded immediately, regaining their advantage when Christos Batzelis sliced a 32nd-minute corner into his own net.

Matt Jay sealed the win for Torquay when he fired in a 70th-minute clinching goal.

Wotton told BBC Radio Devon: "I'll be honest, without getting a little bit over the top I think that's one of the best results we've had since we've been at the football club.

"I loved us. I'm absolutely thrilled. The boys showed endeavour, they worked hard.

"The first 35 minutes I thought we were outstanding. Unbelievable. Front three all moving really quick, switching it, creating chances.

"In the second half as well we passed the ball at the right time, took the sting out of the game."

The result was Torquay's second 3-1 home win this season, after their opening-day victory against Enfield Town.

They have also claimed a point from a 1-1 draw at Maidstone United.

Wotton, whose side made the National League South play-off semi-finals last season, said: "It's a great result and I'm really, really happy with it.

"Two wins, two home wins and an away point so we've given ourselves a start."
