Harrogate Town have announced long-serving captain Josh Falkingham will not be staying on in a playing capacity next season.
The former Leeds United trainee, 34, joined the Sulpherites from Darlington in 2017 when they were in National League North.
He helped them win promotion to the National League in his first season, and was part of the team that secured their first-ever promotion to the Football League in 2020.
Falkingham has made 302 appearances for Town in all competitions but has not featured since picking up an injury in December.
He has also held a coaching role with the club's player development centre since October 2023.
"His impact was felt immediately and his aura in the changing room and on the pitch has been outstanding," boss Simon Weaver told the club website., external
"I've looked on and observed his qualities - he's a natural leader amongst men. I've been so proud to be his manager."
Weaver added: "I can foresee his presence kicking us on again, but now from the sidelines and the training pitch where his desire to help players perform to their best and his enthusiasm to win will enrich us further."
