Carlisle United striker Charlie Wyke will miss the rest of the season having suffered a serious ankle injury.
The 31-year-old sustained a fracture/dislocation to his left ankle and requires surgery.
The injury came 15 minutes after he had come on as a second-half substitute in their 1-0 defeat by Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
“It’s obviously disappointing news for Charlie and for all of us," boss Mike Williamson said.
“He’s our captain and he’ll be missed, but we know how tough he is and we’re all right behind him.
“He’s got the complete support of everyone at the football club, and we’ll help him through this in whatever way we can.”
Carlisle are 23rd in the League Two table with Saturday's defeat their 10th of the season in the league so far.
