Jersey earned their first victory of the season of the Southern Counties Championship as they beat Kent 3-1 in Gillingham.

Aine Ruth gave the islanders a ninth-minute lead as she reacted quickest after Sam Silva's shot was saved.

Silva made it 2-0 10 minutes later before Tiff Sundby wrapped up the win early in the second half as she got on the end of a corner before the hosts pulled one back.

The win came after the islanders were thrashed 10-0 by Middlesex in their opening game last month - they will face Essex and the Army in the New Year.
