Watford and Scotland defender Ryan Porteous is set to join Los Angeles FC after the Championship side agreed a $1m fee [£752,000] for the 26-year-old.

Porteous is on his way to California to undergo his medical ahead of signing a three-year contract with the Major League Soccer club.

He has been at Vicarage Road since moving from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in January 2023.

Porteous has made 82 appearances for Watford and scored seven goals.

He had a loan spell for the second half of last season with Preston North End, where he scored once in 11 games.

Porteous will be the second player to leave Watford for an overseas club this week after Antonio Tikvic's switch to German club Preußen Münster for an undisclosed fee.
