Leicester City captain Aileen Whelan will retire from football at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old forward has made 53 appearances for the Foxes since joining from Brighton in 2022 and has captained the side for the last two campaigns.
Whelan's last game will be on Saturday, 18 May - the final day of the Women's Super League campaign - when Leicester host Liverpool at King Power Stadium.
"I’ve had a long time to prepare for this moment and I'm sure it’s the right decision. Making the transition won't be easy, but it’s something I've been working on for a while," Whelan said.
"My time at the club has been full of highs and lows, but we never gave up or let anything compromise our team character. I can wholeheartedly say, we gave it everything."
