Watford assistant sporting director Valon Behrami has dismissed speculation that playmaker Giorgi Chakvetadze could be sold before the end of the transfer window.

The Georgia international has yet to play this season because of a foot injury, but has been linked with Spanish club Valencia.

"What we are thinking about is having him back healthy.

"He went to a specialist abroad last week and now we have all the information we need about him coming back fit and being able to play for us as soon as possible," Behrami told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"He's not for sale because we are talking about a player who has to come back fit and that's the only thing we are thinking about now."

Behrami confirmed that The Hornets are in the market for a defender, whether a permanent deal or on loan.

"There are a few names on the table. We just need to find the right opportunity and the right moment," he said.

"What we want to make sure is that he is someone that can improve the team, not just to bring someone in for a number, but (someone who) can bring to the table a better solution."
