Wimbledon sign Lincoln midfielder Smith

Alistair Smith won the League Two play-off final on loan at AFC Wimbledon last season

AFC Wimbledon have signed Alistair Smith from Lincoln City after a successful loan spell last season.

The 26-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Johnnie Jackson's side after helping the Wombles to promotion to League One last season.

Smith scored six goals in 54 appearances in all competitions and played the entire match as the Dons beat Walsall 1-0 in the League Two play-off final at Wembley last month.

"Last season on loan was a great experience - the fans and everyone at the club made me feel at home straightaway," he told the club's website.

"To finish it off with promotion at Wembley was unforgettable. I'm excited for the new season and ready to give everything to help keep the team and the club pushing forward."

Smith began his career with Mansfield Town before joining Sutton United in 2021, where he made 78 appearances and scored 14 goals.

He moved to the Imps in 2023, scoring once in 32 games.
