Republic of Ireland beat Armenia 1-0 in their must-win World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Eduard Spertsyan squandered a good chance to put Armenia in front in the first half as he sliced wide.

The game was then turned on its head by Tigran Barseghyan's dismissal for a headbutt on Finn Azaz.

The Irish capitalised on their man advantage as Evan Ferguson headed home from Will Smallbone's cross to secure the three points.
