Owls sign Saints midfielder Charles on loan

Shea Charles has been capped eight times by Northern Ireland

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Southampton midfielder Shea Charles on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international joined the Saints from Manchester City last summer and made 32 appearances in the Championship as they won promotion.

He will link up with younger brother Pierce, who is the Owls' back-up goalkeeper, at Hillsborough.

Wednesday, who visit Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday, have won one and lost two of their opening three league games.
