Luton Town captain Carlton Morris says they must "dig deep and find another level" if they are to get out of their precarious position in the Championship.

They are facing the possibility of back-to-back relegations after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat by Millwall left them next to bottom of the table.

Their next two games are away at Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland and they need to find some way of ending a run of 11 successive losses on the road.

"No-one's going to roll over and give you a victory when you're in a tough moment - you've got to go out there and earn it," Morris told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"I definitely don't think you can pinpoint one thing [to blame]. There's been a variety of issues that have culminated in this snowball effect from the very start of the season."

Manager Matt Bloomfield, who left a promotion bid with Wycombe in League One to take over at Kenilworth Road, has one point from his first three matches in charge.

And the pressure to produce positive results is increasing as Luton look to reinforce their squad in the remaining days of the transfer window.

Morris said it was crucial the squad and supporters stick together over the coming weeks.

"We still feel their support and that's huge for us, huge for the dressing room. The last thing we want is for it to turn toxic and start blaming each other. That's just where you don't want to be," he said.

"What we need to remember as well is that teams at Championship level are no mugs. We need to dig deep and find another level.

"That's why everyone loves the Championship. Anyone can beat anyone in any given week, but we haven't shown that enough in recent weeks."

One plus for Luton was the return of Alfie Doughty, who played for more than an hour on his return to the starting line-up following injury.

And Morris believes he and recent recruit Isaiah Jones from Middlesbrough could be vital as they look for the points to escape the bottom three.

"It's brilliant to have Alfie's energy back. He settled in really well and we've just scratched the surface - I think he's going to be electric for this club going forward," he added.

"I'm excited to see them down the flanks in the next few games. I think they can really create and get the fans on their feet again."
