Glasgow City retained their place at the top of the SWPL with a comfortable victory over Spartans, while Rangers and Celtic avoided early scares to also win.

Despite a strong second-half showing from Aberdeen, Hearts ran out 2-0 winners at the Balmoral Stadium to keep the pressure on the top two.

Motherwell and Rangers both put six goals past Queen's Park and Dundee United respectively while Hibs drew 1-1 with Partick Thistle.

Despite going a goal down, Celtic came from behind to defeat Montrose 5-1.

United struck first at Broadwood when Morgan Steedman curled in a long-range effort after 24 minutes.

But Jane Ross got the hosts back level and then put them in front before Camille Lafaix made it 3-1 right on half-time.

Second half goals from Mia McAulay, Katie Wilkinson and Kirsty Howat's converted penalty made it a comfortable afternoon for Jo Potter's side.

Celtic also found themselves behind when Louise Brown's volley opened the scoring for Montrose at New Douglas Park.

It took just eight minutes for Elena Sadiku's side to respond when Amy Gallacher turned in the equaliser.

Montrose held out until half-time but a second half hat-trick from Saoirse Noonan and a Demi Taylor own goal earned Celtic all the points.

City cruised to victory at Petershill against Spartans despite Lisa Forrest's saved penalty, as six different scorers found the back of the net without response.

Hibs were held to a 1-1 draw by Partick Thistle.

Tegan Bowie put the hosts in front just before half time but Cara Henderson's second-half equaliser split the points at Meadowbank.

First-half goals from Jackie Richards and Georgia Timms meant Hearts returned from Aberdeen with all three points, despite a spirited second-half performance from Scott Booth's side.
