Burton Albion have signed midfielder JJ McKiernan on loan from League One rivals Lincoln City for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old has scored one goal in 17 appearances since joining the Imps on a four-year deal in the summer after he turned down an offer to remain with previous club Morecambe.

McKiernan, a former Northern Ireland Under-21 international, scored seven goals in 28 League Two appearances in his solitary campaign with the Shrimps.

He now joins a Brewers side batting to avoid relegation, and moves to the Pirelli Stadium as the second addition made by head coach Gary Bowyer after left-back Owen Dodgson arrived on loan from Burnley.

"He wants to come and score goals and that's what we need, so when he became available it was one I wanted to get done quite quickly," Bowyer told BBC Radio Derby.
