Plymouth Argyle striker Lorent Tolaj says he is targeting more than 20 goals this season.

The 24-year-old scored for the ninth time in 16 appearances in all competitions in the 1-0 win over his former club Port Vale.

The Swiss forward, who moved to Argyle for more than £1m in the summer, has scored each of Plymouth's last four goals.

He replied "Why not more?" when asked if he could score 20 goals for the Pilgrims.

"It's not bad for the beginning of the season," he added.

"I'm happy, but for me the most important thing is to win games. I like scoring, but I like more winning games.

"Every game for me I need to score because if I don't score, I don't do my job.

"For me the striker has to score, obviously, there's more to the game, but now people see a striker, he has to score goals, so I have to adapt to that and score goals."

Tolaj has been one of the few bright points in a difficult season for Plymouth Argyle after relegation back to League One.

The victory at Vale Park ended a run of six successive losses in all competitions and was injury-ravaged Argyle's first victory in almost two months.

The win saw the Pilgrims move off the foot of League One, with Vale replacing them. Argyle are now a point off safety having won five of their 16 league games this season.

"It's nice to get the first win and give back the confidence of the team, I'm really happy with that," Tolaj added.

"I'm proud of the boys and the way we defended, the second half especially, because it wasn't easy, we ran a lot, we defended the box well, so I'm glad we kept the clean sheet.

"I wanted to score in this game especially, obviously I played for this club, but I'm happy for that."
