Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert has dropped out of the Scotland squad to face Austria and the Netherlands in the Nations League, because of a rib injury.

The 26-year-old missed Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton that kept the London side seven points clear of Manchester United at the top of the Women's Super League.

Having been promoted back to League A, the Scots start their Group 1 campaign in the Josko Arena in Ried im Innkreis on Friday, 21 February and host the Dutch at Hampden Park four days later.

Michael McArdle, who took over as interim head coach after the departure of Pedro Martinez Losa, started his tenure by making 10 changes to the 24-strong squad that faced Finland in December.

However, Cuthbert has been a key player in midfield and would have been a certainty to earn a 75th Scotland cap.
