Goalkeeper Will Brook has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Shrewsbury Town.

The 22-year-old has been rewarded with fresh terms after making an excellent transition from non-league football, having joined League Two Salop from National League North side Leamington at the start of the season.

Signed originally as back-up to Manchester United loanee Elyh Harrison, Brook has displaced the England Under-20 international as Town's number one keeper.

A few months on from swapping a job in his father's building business for life as a professional footballer, Brook has started the past 10 games in all competitions, keeping three clean sheets.

"Will has done incredibly well since coming into the football club," boss Michael Appleton said., external

"It was only three or four months ago that he was about to begin work as a builder with his dad and play part-time in non-league.

"But he has come in and really made the most of the opportunity he's been given."

Brook's initial deal was due to run until the end of the season but he has now committed until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

"Will had to be patient at the start. But ever since coming into the team, he's shown a level of consistency beyond his years," added Appleton.

"Will has improved a lot in a short space of time and what's really exciting is his potential to keep growing and developing.

"I'm delighted that his long-term future is with us."
