Swindon Town defender George Cox is set for a spell on the sidelines after breaking his foot in the League Two defeat at Notts County.

The 26-year-old left-back was forced off at half-time on Saturday and replaced by Tunmise Sobowale as Swindon went on to lose 2-0.

The Robins confirmed on Thursday that Cox had fractured the medial cuneiform bone in his foot and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

Cox will miss at least seven league fixtures and Swindon's EFL Trophy third-round tie with Birmingham City.

The former Brighton youth player has made 21 appearances in all competitions and scored twice since joining from Dutch side FC Volendam in August 2024.

Swindon, who are 22nd and four points above the relegation zone, welcome automatic promotion-chasing Crewe Alexandra in League Two this weekend.
