Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has resumed light training but manager Phil Parkinson says he will not be rushed back into action.

Okonkwo suffered a broken wrist in Wrexham's 1-0 win over Mansfield Town on 9 November.

The 23-year-old did not require surgery but was ruled out for an initial six weeks

"Arthur's got a scan next Wednesday to confirm that the bone has healed properly," Parkinson told BBC Wales Sport.

"We will take it from there with the advice from the specialist after that consultation.

"He's been back on the training field this week working on his fitness and other aspects of goalkeeping – obviously not handling.

"He's been back out with us and it's been good to have him back on the training pitch."

Okonkwo was replaced in the side by Callum Burton, who subsequently suffered a thigh injury in the 1-0 win over Barnsley on 3 December.

Parkinson said Burton could miss the rest of the season, with veteran Mark Howard set to continue in goal for Saturday's visit of Cambridge United in League One.

Wrexham have also signed Brad Foster as injury cover on a short-term deal.

Striker Paul Mullin has started on the bench in recent games while Steven Fletcher has featured in Wrexham's last two league games after recovering from a knee injury.

"Mulls is ready and chomping at the bit," Parkinson added.

"Fletch is back as well, which is great to see.

"Fletch is feeling a lot better and is a boost for us because the quality he brings is above the level.

"We've been building him up in training and he's ready to make a contribution as we go into this busy period.

"We've got a good squad and we'll need everybody for this run of games coming up."
