Brentford look very well drilled. When they win the ball, they break forward very quickly and they break forward with purpose.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:41 BST 16 September

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Millwall

Millwall have just had two big chances. Mihailo Ivanovic had a header saved by debutant Walter Benitez in the Palace goal following a cross from the right touchline.

Camiel Neghli was then played through for the visitors but couldn't score when faced with only Benitez to beat, dragging an effort just wide of the post.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 BST 16 September

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Grimsby

Nothing doing after 45 minutes in this one.

The League Two side, who beat Manchester United in the last round, have had the better of things but Ethan Horvath in the Wednesday goal hasn't really had to make a save.

The home side have however had to make two injury enforced substitutions and given how incredibly thin their squad is that is something they can ill afford.

  4. Postpublished at 20:36 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

Ian Maatsen strikes low at goal for Aston Villa and Hakon Valdimarsson gets his body behind the ball.

But the keeper needs some medical attention as he has a cut, which is bleeding, just under his left eye following that previous challenge with Evann Guessand.

  5. Postpublished at 20:34 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

John McGinn sends a cross into the danger zone for Villa and Brentford goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson comes for the ball, only to spill it.

But he gets lucky as there's no Villa player able to take advantage. Valdimarsson dives at the feet of Evann Guessand, who goes down, but the referee says the keeper got enough of the ball so no penalty.

  6. 'Villa looking open'published at 20:31 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson
Former Aston Villa forward on BBC Radio 5 Live Extra

Aston Villa feel a little bit open now. They did look comfortable but they are looking open.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Millwall

All the chances at Selhurst Park are dropping for Crystal Palace, but they have not been able to convert any of their seven attempts so far.

Replacement goalkeeper Steven Benda, who replaced Max Crocombe after he got injured in the warm-up, has made three saves for Millwall to keep it goalless.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:29 BST 16 September

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Grimsby

Reece Staunton is booked for the away side for a really poor challenge.

That's one booking apiece now after Cole McGhee was booked for the home side earlier on.

  9. Postpublished at 20:29 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

It's a good spell this for Brentford. Defender Kristoffer Ajer had found some space at the back post following a deep free-kick but can only head the ball well off target.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 20:27 BST 16 September

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Grimsby

The home side have been forced into a double change before the break.

Reece Johnson and Olaf Kobacki have both gone off with injuries.

Gabriel Otegbayo and Yisa Alao are on in their places. It's just a second senior appearance for Alao.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:26 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

A booking for Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand, going through the back of Brentford's Fabio Carvalho and chopping him down.

  12. 'Brentford applying a bit of pressure'published at 20:24 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson

Henry just scuffs it into the ground a little bit. Aston Villa had started well but Brentford are now applying a bit of pressure.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:23 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

Rico Henry has a strike for Brentford, although it looked to be going wide. Ezri Konsa wasn't taking any chances though and clears.

But Brentford come again and win a corner, which is swung in by Vitaly Janelt on the right flank.

Sepp van den Berg breaks free and powers a header at goal, but Villa's back-up keeper Marco Bizot does superbly to rise and tip it over the top. Best moment of the match so far.

  14. Postpublished at 20:20 BST 16 September

No shots on target so far from either Brentford at home to Aston Villa or Millwall in their game at rivals Crystal Palace.

  15. Postpublished at 20:17 BST 16 September

Still goalless in all three games. A reminder that if it's level at 90 minutes then we go straight to penalties. Extra time is not seen in the Carabao Cup until the semi-finals.

  16. Postpublished at 20:11 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

Brentford's Antoni Milambo needs some treatment after an accidental but painful collision with Villa's Pau Torres.

The 20-year-old Dutch forward Milambo will be keen to impress in his third game for the club following a £17m move from Feyenoord in the summer and he's OK to carry on for now.

  17. Postpublished at 20:06 BST 16 September

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

Pau Torres gets on the end of a cross for Aston Villa, but can only nod the ball well wide. But a promising start from the visitors as they push for their first goal of the season.

  18. Postpublished at 20:06 BST 16 September

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Grimsby

The away side are doing all the early running against this inexperienced Wednesday XI.

Jaze Kabia hits a shot just past the post and then Kieran Green forces Owls keeper Ethan Horvath into some work.

  19. Postpublished at 20:05 BST 16 September

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Millwall

Yeremy Pino strikes at goal for the hosts, but Steven Benda, at full stretch, does well to push the ball around the post. Palace with all the ball early on at Selhurst Park.
