It is fitting that on an historic night for Manchester United the weather conditions should be so appropriate. It is absolutely tipping it down.

    Old Trafford

There were around 13,500 tickets sold for this fixture yesterday and the wet weather is unlikely to have boosted that number further.

It's a fairly low attendance at Old Trafford for such a big fixture but WSL clubs have often struggled to promote an 8pm midweek kick-off.

It's still a historic night for United to play at Old Trafford for the first time in the Women's Champions League.

Among those in the stadium were a few who booed Mary Earps' name when the teams were read out - but it wasn't the masses.

It will be interesting to see what reception she gets throughout the game as more take their seats.

    Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich goalscorer Pernille Harder, speaking on Disney+: "Of course, [it's an] unbelievable feeling. These three points are so important for us. Coming back down from two goals is really great."

On coming off the bench: "I was ready when I came on and just thought how we need goals.

"I trust myself when I come on the pitch to change the game.

"This gives us a lot of confidence. After the first half, we were thinking, 'Where are we at?' but the second half gave us a lot of confidence and showed we can still compete in this competition."

Mary Earps mural outside Old Trafford

When the mural of Mary Earps was painted outside Old Trafford bearing the words "Welcome to Manchester" it was with the intention of intimidating their opponents.

Earps was the golden girl, fresh from winning Euro 2022 with England and at the peak of her United career.

Now the message "Welcome to Manchester" feels aimed at her on the return to her former club, where the welcome might be less amiable.

The release of her autobiography has caused a stir in women's football and United fans weren't happy when she left for PSG upon the expiry of her contract in July 2024.

The "forget Paris" message scribbled in the corner of Earps' mural remains and I'm sure United fans will be keen to see their side knock a few goals past the goalkeeper today.

After that first goal went in, you thought Bayern were going to go on and get another one.

They put Arsenal on the back foot and Arsenal struggled.

Speaking in a BBC interview earlier this year, Earps said her move to Paris St-Germain had allowed her to escape "the craziness of England".

She fitted seamlessly into the team, instantly becoming the club's number one to start 22 of their 24 league matches last term.

But it was a disappointing season for PSG as they ended the campaign 10 points behind Lyon, who also beat them in the play-off final, while they were also knocked out in the second round of Champions League qualifying.

Unbelievable scenes. Fair play to Bayern Munich. The second half performance has been on a different level.

I have no idea what happened to Arsenal in he second half but they capitulated.

That one will hurt this Arsenal team because that first-half performance was unbelievable.

The big debate around Manchester United's proposed relocation from Old Trafford is that it removes the site of so much history.

United have played in this stadium since 1910.

In terms of Europe, Old Trafford played host to the Busby Babes, the 1968 team of Best, Charlton and Law, Sir Alex Ferguson's Treble winners and the Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez team of 2008.

United's women's team didn't exist in its present form when any of those sides played.

Tonight is a special night for that branch of the club.

This is just unbelievable from Glodis Viggosdottir. She makes the run across the front post.

That is some ball in as well, and then the technique is difficult to get it on target.

What a game. How has this even happened?
