Sean Dyche earned the perfect start as Nottingham Forest manager as penalties from Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus downed Porto in the Europa League.
The spot-kicks earned Forest their first win since their Premier League opener in August, a first clean sheet since April and Dyche a debut victory following his appointment on Tuesday.
It has been a chaotic opening few months of the season for Forest after Ange Postecoglou was sacked on Saturday, just 39 days after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.
While it was not instant calm amid the chaos at a boisterous City Ground, Dyche had restored belief and organisation before Gibbs-White scored from the spot on 19 minutes following Jan Bednarek's handball.
The hosts looked far more comfortable and compact than during Postecoglou's brief reign and Callum Hudson-Odoi tested goalkeeper Diogo Costa, while Matz Sels also saved Alan Varela's 25-yard drive.
Jesus added a second from the spot with 13 minutes left, referee Radu Petrescu awarding the penalty after consulting his monitor having initially booked Nicolo Savona for diving under Martim Fernandes' challenge.
It meant Porto slipped to their first defeat of the season - the visitors had previously won 10 of their opening 11 games - not helped by having Bednarek's second-half effort ruled out by VAR for offside.

Of the Nottingham Forest squad, only Sels and Willy Boly had been born the last time the club won a European game.
Their last European victory game in November 1995 when they beat Lyon 1-0 in the Uefa Cup third round first leg, en route to a quarter-final loss to Bayern Munich.
Three days before the Lyon win, Chesterfield - where Dyche was playing - were on the other side of the Trent losing 4-1 at Notts County in the old Division Three.
Those games were a long time ago and Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Chelsea - which ended Postecoglou's brief reign - also feels like a different time.
Forest's first win since the opening day came from grit, determination and hard work rather than any free-flowing football, with the City Ground rocking - instead of resigned and restless.
But as Dyche himself put it in his opening news conference on Wednesday "the bit I like is when you win", citing style does not necessarily matter in a results business.
Penalties from Gibbs-White and Jesus ensured the new manager got that feeling against the Primeira Liga leaders, who struggled to break down Forest's stubborn defence, as the hosts look to stabilise after their tumultuous few weeks.
