Every season, the Premier League champions are given 40 winners medals.
Of those 40 medals, Premier League rules stipulate one is allocated to every player who has made five or more appearances in the competition during the season.
That usually leaves around 15-20 medals left over. The winning club can choose to distribute those as they see fit.
Managers and other senior coaching staff, including their assistants, are customarily awarded some of the remaining medals.
Players who have featured on fewer than five occasions may not be guaranteed a medal but could be given one by the club.
Any player who has transferred to a new club part way through the season may be eligible for a medal if their previous team wins the league title.
For example, when Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich on loan from Manchester City in January 2023, he was eligible for two league winners medals - one for winning the Bundesliga as part of Bayern's squad, and one for featuring 17 times in City's Premier League triumph before his departure.
