You look at the table and Cheltenham might be down in 22nd and you think it might be a formality, but they have taken 10 points from 12 under Steve Cotterill and only conceded one goal. Now Notts have got two in the opening 28 minutes and nearly had a third.

What a goal that would have been. He's thrown himself at it, think Keith Houchen FA Cup Final 1987, for those old enough... it's zipped off the turf and come back off the post.

County have settled into a groove even more since doubling their lead and they're knocking it about excellently.

They work another opening as Nick Tsaroulla stoops low at the back stick but his header crashes out off the post.

So close to a third!

A dominant display so far by Notts County and Martin Paterson's side are up to third and into the automatic promotion spots as things stand.

One more goal without reply tonight would give the Magpies the outright best goal difference in the division.

Shouts for a penalty by the Cheltenham faithful as Jake Bickerstaff and County defender Lewis Macari have a coming together in the box, but nothing doing there.

That's about as close to Kelle Roos' goal the hosts have come in the opening half an hour.

Notts deserve it. They have been absolutely exceptional, passing it around, their movement has been excellent, Cheltenham have just not been able to get any kind of foothold in the game.

I really don't think Cheltenham have done a lot wrong, Notts have just come out and passed the ball around superbly.

We were asking if they could find the goal their domination deserves, now they have...

It's another aerial ball which the defence don't deal with. It hits Tom Iorpenda and drops to Jatta who finishes it first time, the sign of a striker in form and with confidence.

Notts have got the goal their performance deserves.

Ethon Archer tries to calm things down for Cheltenham and is brought down in his own half by County's Tom Iorpenda.

James Wilson then tries to launch one forward for the hosts but it runs out of play. Sums up the first 20 minutes of the game so far for the Robins, who have struggled to settle.

More good play from Alassana Jatta, Notts have lots of bodies piling forward.

It's more dangerous play from Notts, they are just lacking the final ball.

Notts have had enough success from aerial balls into the area to give them some belief.

Alassana Jatta looks so lively up top for County. He drives forward and it eventually comes to Tom Iorpenda on the left, who sees his attempted cross cleared for a corner.

It's deflected behind for another corner to the Magpies before Cheltenham clear the danger from the second one.

The Robins are coming under plenty of pressure here.

Notts County have had 76% possession so far, four shots and five touches in the Cheltenham box.

The Robins are yet to register a shot or touch in the opposing penalty area.

Notts County are playing some really nice stuff. Another free-flowing move ends with another Scott Robertson shot from about 20 yards out.

He curls one with his left but Joe Day does well to dive to his right and beat it away. A fairly regulation save for the Cheltenham keeper but promising signs for the Magpies as they hunt down that automatic promotion spot.

Here come Notts County again as green shirts flood forward.

Tyrese Hall sets it back for Scott Robertson to have a pop from just outside the area but he screws it wide.

Notts are keeping the ball nicely and keeping Cheltenham pinned back. We talked about a 4-3-3 formation but it's certainly a 4-5-1 out of possession.

It's not the biggest pitch at Whaddon Road so you have to move it around quickly and they are doing that. The build-up is patient.

Notts have settled the better in the opening 10 minutes.

Notts County are just starting to assert themselves now and enjoying some sustained possession in the attacking third.

Cheltenham are able to catch a breath, though, as the ref spots a foul inside the Robins' own area.

First corner of the night and it goes the way of Notts County. Keanan Bennetts sends it in from the left and it's steered towards goal at the back stick but the Robins are able to clear.
