Ninth-tier Lordswood are through to the Second Qualifying Round for the first time in their history, and the Chatham-based club will be hoping to spring an upset when they take on Kent rivals Sittingbourne of the Isthmian League South East Division.

The “Lords” can take inspiration from their manager Nicky Southall, a cup hero for Gillingham back in 2000 when his stunning goal knocked out Premier League Sheffield Wednesday, external to book the Gills a quarter-final date at Chelsea.

Sittingbourne’s best FA Cup performance came back in the 1920s with two appearances in the Second Round Proper, and in the early 1990s they made waves with the construction of a multi-million-pound state-of-the-art stadium that was the envy of non-league football. However, despite two promotions in quick succession, a financial crisis followed and the club fell back down the pyramid.

The “Brickies” caused an upset of their own in the First Qualifying Round, knocking out Dover Athletic in a replay, but will need to be wary of the trip to Martyn Grove where Lordswood have won all three of their FA Cup ties this season.
