Slaughtneil edged out Coleraine 1-7 to 0-9 at Celtic Park on Sunday to retain the Derry senior club football title.

The champions led by a point at the break and Se McGuigan's fisted goal on 41 minutes proved decisive.

Coleraine, who were aiming to repeat their 2010 Derry success, hit four points without reply in a spirited foughtback but they fell a point short.

Slaughtneil completed an amazing treble after the club also won the county hurling and camogie titles.

A poor first half ended with Slaughtneil going in 0-4 to 0-3 ahead and they moved six points clear soon after McGuigan's goal.

Sean Leo McGoldrick was pivotal to Coleraine's attacking play as they closed to within points.

Paul Bradley top-scored for Slaughtneil, who also won the hurling title last year, with four points as they secured a third Oak Leaf football triumph.

Slaughtneil hammered Bellaghy 2-16 to 1-6 to progress to the decider while Coleraine defeated Ballinderry 0-15 to 1-5 at the semi-final stage.
