Aaron Kernan: Former All-Ireland winner calls time on Crossmaglen career
- Published
Aaron Kernan has retired from club gaelic games after a Crossmaglen career which included 18 Armagh senior county championships, eight Ulster titles and three All-Irelands.
The 39-year-old joined Crossmaglen Rangers in 2001 and by 2004 was part of the Armagh senior county panel.
Kernan won the Ulster Championship four times with the Orchard county, from 2004 to 2006, and again in 2008.
He retired from the inter-county game in 2014.
Kernan's retirement comes in the wake of Cross's Ulster SFC quarter-final defeat to Trillick on Saturday.
He picked up his All-Ireland club medals in 2007, 2011 and 2012.
Kernan's distinguished career also saw him named All Stars Young Footballer of the Year in 2005 and be part of the successful Irish team which toured Australia for the 2008 International Rules Series.
His retirement from inter-county football nine years ago came in the wake of an All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Donegal.
