Limerick have secured seven Hurling All-Stars which includes their player of the year nominees Diarmaid Byrnes, Aaron Gillane and Kyle Hayes.

The Treaty County's seven awards, after their fourth straight All-Ireland title, matches their 2022 tally.

Dan Morrissey, Darragh O'Donovan, Will O'Donoghue and Tom Morrissey are Limerick's other award winners.

Kilkenny's five winners are Eoin Murphy, Mikey Butler, Huw Lawlor, Eoin Cody and TJ Reid.

It is 36-year-old Reid's seventh All-Star.

The team is completed by Clare duo John Conlon and Shane O'Donnell plus Galway's Conor Whelan.

Limerick had secured 14 nominations with Gearoid Hegarty the only member of their All-Ireland Final winning team to miss out and captain Declan Hannon also not included after missing the concluding games in the successful four-in-a-row campaign because of injury.

Byrnes won the player award last year with Cian Lynch earning the honour in 2021.

GAA president Larry McCarthy paid tribute to the award winners.

"The high-calibre list of nominations reflected what was yet another thrilling hurling season and this team represents the cream of that considerable crop," said the GAA president.

"To join the illustrious ranks of the heroes who have been honoured with an All-Star since 1971 is a wonderful achievement and something that I am sure will be shared by your families and clubs."
