Karl Lacey will remain as Kilcoo senior football manager for the 2024 season, the club has confirmed.

The 2012 All-Ireland winner with Donegal took over as Magpies boss ahead of the 2023 campaign, replacing Conleith Gilligan and Richie Thornton.

Lacey led Kilcoo to their 11th Down title in 12 years and an Ulster Club SFC preliminary round win over Fermanagh's Derrygonnelly Harps.

However, they were beaten in a thrilling quarter-final by Scotstown.

After that defeat, Lacey cast doubt on his future with the 2022 All-Ireland champions, but his continuation in the role into next year was confirmed by the club on Tuesday.

"Eoghan Rua Cill Chua are delighted to announce that manager Karl Lacey and his backroom team will look after our senior side in 2024," Kilcoo wrote on social media.

Before taking the Kilcoo job, Lacey had been the head of Donegal's academy, but quit that role in February citing a lack of support from the county board.
