Monaghan's Karl Gallagher has completed a move to Australian Football League side Adelaide Crows.
The 21-year-old has signed as a Category B rookie on a two-year deal.
He secured a list spot for this season after impressing during a pre-season trial before Christmas at West Lakes.
Gallagher arrived in Adelaide in November after playing an important role in helping Monaghan reach the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final.
He played in all eight of their championship games as they lost to Dublin in the last four.
Monaghan boss Vinny Corey has already lost goalkeeper Rory Beggan for at least the start of their National League campaign as he is heading to America to compete in an NFL combine.
Adelaide said their recruiters have been tracking Gallagher since 2019 when he was a standout at an AFL combine testing day in Ireland before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
"It was definitely a tough decision to officially make the move, I went back home over Christmas and had some long chats with my family and friends," Gallagher told the Adelaide club website.
"It's a big commitment moving across the world, and something I didn't take lightly.
"Opportunities like this don't come around too often, so I was happy to take it with both hands and commit to being part of this footy club for the next two years."
