Conor Glass earns a footballer of the year nomination for his contribution to Glen's first All-Ireland triumph

Six members of Glen's All-Ireland winning side have been included in the GAA's club football team of the year for 2023-24.

The Derry side beat Roscommon's St Brigid's in January's Croke Park final to win their first title.

In addition to his award, Glen midfielder Conor Glass is nominated for footballer of the year.

Cushendall's Paddy Burke and Neil McManus are both included in the hurling team.

The Ruairi Ogs won the Ulster title for the first time since 2018 before falling to Kilkenny side O'Loughlin Gaels in the All-Ireland semi-finals.

All-Ireland champions St Thomas' (Galway) have six players in the hurling team.

After their football triumph, Glen's Ryan Dougan, Ciaran McFaul, Michael Warnock, Emmett Bradley and Eunan Mulholland are included alongside Glass.

St Brigid's have four representatives (Brian Stack, Pearse Frost, Ruaidhri Fallon and Ben O'Carroll) in the team, with two from Kilmacud Crokes (Shane Walsh and Paul Mannion) and one each from Naas (Darragh Kirwan) and Castlehaven (Brian Hurley).

Scotstown goalkeeper Rory Beggan, who is trying to realise his dream of playing in the NFL, also makes the football team.

Glass faces competition from St Brigid's forward O'Carroll and Kilmacud star Walsh for the footballer of the year award.

O'Loughlin Gaels duo David Fogarty and Paddy Deegan and St Thomas' David Burke will compete for the hurler of the year.

New GAA president Jarlath Burns will present the players with their awards at a function at Croke Park on Friday evening.
