- Published
Harlem Globetrotters star Firefly lights up the court with his fantastic basketball tricks. He has created a four part tutorial exclusively for Get Inspired to teach you how he uses these tricks during the game.
So if you follow his moves and keep practising, you too could shoot, dribble, spin and fake a pass like the Globetrotters and dazzle your opponents!
Lesson One: Shooting
First up is one of the most important and impressive skills all basketball players need. Of course it's shooting! Learn the best hand positions for shooting, the importance of rotation and how to perfect your wrist action.
Lesson Two: Dribbling
If you want to cross the court quickly then mastering the art of dribbling is essential. Firefly demonstrates how bending your knees and using your wrist the push to ball to the ground will improve your technique hugely.
Lesson Three: Ball Spinning
Spinning the ball on one finger is one of the Harlem Globetrotters most iconic moves. Start by spinning the ball in your hands and then move on to using one finger. Remember- it takes a huge amount of practise, but it will be worth it when you've mastered it!
Lesson Four: Faking a Pass
Firefly loves to use the fake pass trick to outwit defenders. To practise this move, use your most dominant hand to stop the ball leaving your grip. It requires very strong hands and a lot of control.
