Venue: Guangxi Gymnasium, Nanning, China. Dates: 3-12 October

Coverage: 15:00-17:15 on BBC Two from 7-10 October, 14:20-15:50 on BBC One on 11 October and 16:00-17:30 on BBC Two on 12 October.

Double Olympic bronze medallist Max Whitlock will lead Great Britain's men's gymnastics team at the World Championships in China in October.

Olympians Becky Downie and Hannah Whelan feature in a women's team that also includes four-time Commonwealth champion Claudia Fragapane.

Whitlock, 21, will be joined by Nile Wilson, Kristian Thomas, Courtney Tulloch, Dan Keatings and Dan Purvis.

However, there is no place for Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith.

The 25-year-old made his first competitive appearance since London 2012 at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but is not selected while he focuses on his media commitments.

Sam Oldham, who was part of the 2012 Olympic bronze medal-winning team and England's Commonwealth Games team, also misses out after having ankle surgery.

Ruby Harrold, Kelly Simm, Gabby Jupp and Charlie Fellows complete a women's line-up from which two reserves will be chosen at a later date.

Former junior European champion Frank Baines has been named as the sole reserve for the men's team.

Fragapane, 16, was the star performer of England's Commonwealth Games gymnastics team, winning four gold medals, while Whitlock won three.
