Luke Whitehouse secured a gold medal for Great Britain in the men's floor final at the European Gymnastics Championships.

The 20-year-old beat Olympic and European champion Artem Dolgopyat of Israel with a score of 14.900 to claim the title in Antalya, Turkey.

In the women's uneven bars final, GB's Becky Downie continued her recovery from an Achilles injury with a silver medal.

Downie, 31, was awarded 14.233 points.

The competition in Turkey is Downie's first international event since the World Championships in 2021, although she missed out on selection for the Tokyo Olympics four months later.

She ruptured her Achilles in June 2022 and was expecting to be sidelined for about a year. But she returned to compete after nine months and won gold on bars at the British Championships in March.

Italy's Alice D'Amato won gold in the event on Saturday, with Elisabeth Seitz of Germany taking the bronze medal.

Earlier, Whitehouse was awarded 6.5 for difficulty and 8.400 for execution after perfectly landing a triple back somersault during his routine on the floor.

Germany's Milan Hosseini claimed bronze ahead of Briton Harry Hepworth.

Hepworth, who had been unwell in the build-up to the final, finished level with Hosseini on 14.200 points, but the 19-year-old was awarded a lesser score than the German for execution and was placed fourth.

In the men's rings final, GB's Courtney Tulloch looked like he had put himself into contention for a medal with his routine, but the 27-year-old finished sixth.

Turkey's Adem Asil delighted the home fans by beating Vahagn Davtyan of Armenia and six-time European rings champion Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece to the gold medal.

Great Britain have won six medals so far and will be aiming for more success on the final day competition, when the likes of Jessica Gadirova will defend her title in the women's floor final.
