England captain Kate Richardson-Wa lsh levelled the scores directly from a penalty corner on 10 minutes.

Helen Richardson-Walsh then put the home team ahead 10 minutes later with a sharp finish after a surging run from Lily Owsley.

Saturday's match saw the return of Olympic bronze medallist Ashleigh Ball, who only got a call into the squad on Friday after Joie Leigh withdrew through illness.

After a year out with a knee injury she described her return as as "emotional".

The midfielder told BBC Sport: "It's amazing, it's been a year of a roller coaster with some heavy knocks along the way. It was special, the knee feels great."

The 29-year-old said she got the call-up from coach Danny Kerry while she was in the hairdressers. "It was awkward and a little bit of a shock, but I said I'm on my way," she added.
