GB twice came from behind to salvage a draw with India

Great Britain began their Sultan Azlan Shah Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against four-time champions India.

After a two-hour delay because of an electrical storm, Britain trailed in the second quarter when Akashdeep Singh pounced on a penalty corner rebound.

Tom Carson's fine finish made it 1-1 at the break but Mandeep Singh soon restored India's lead from close range.

However, a trademark close range finish from Alan Forsyth in the final quarter earned a point for Britain.

GB, who have won the tournament once, when competing as England in 1994, face outsiders Japan in their next match on Sunday.

Defending champions Australia, seeking a 10th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup title, began with a 1-1 draw against New Zealand.

The six-team tournament in Ipoh, Malaysia comprises round-robin, four-quarter matches and, for the first time, video referrals are available.

Britain used the technology to their advantage when they had a penalty corner reversed in the third quarter against India. GB had a late penalty corner of their own but could not find the target and honours ended even.
